What Do I Pack in my Carry on bag?
In my opinion, the personal bag is the most important bag to pack correctly. On some budget airlines, it is the only item you can bring on the plane with you.
FIGURE OUT EVERYTHING THAT YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO TAKE ON THE PLANE WITH YOU IN ADVANCE.
MAKE A CHECKLIST!
My checklist includes:
- camera bag
- portable charger and cord
- snacks (granola bars and fruit leather usually)
- a compact blanket (army rolled)
- purse with wallet and passport
- headphones
- sanitary wipes
- tea bags
- sketchbook/pencils
The bag that I use as my personal item is a very large tote bag and it can fit ALL of this stuff in it. This bag i’ve used for years and it is my tried and true. Make sure the purse that you’re bringing is small and can easily fit in your larger bag. You can usually get away with carrying it along with your larger bag, but better safe than sorry!
PACK YOUR BAG WITH PURPOSE!
The first thing to always go in my personal item is my camera bag. It is the most bulky and I will not need to access it during my flight. Everything else that I am packing can sit on top of it and be easily accessible.
I also always have a small bag inside my personal item that holds all electronic items. This includes the portable charger, any cords, and headphones. This way you will not have to go fishing in your bag for them and they’re less likely to become a jumbled mess.
